Naomi Salvo Newton 1978 ~ 2009

“Gandalf: The journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take. Grey rain curtan of this world rolls back and it all turns to silver glass. And then you see it.”
“Pippen: What Gandalf? What?”
“Gandalf: White shores. And beyond, the far green country and a swift sunrise.”
“Pippen: That isn’t so bad.”
“Gandalf: No. No, it isn’t.”
~ From The Lord of the Rings screenplay by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens

I am not sure if this true, about Naomi’s passing. My husband, Jorge is actually Naomi’s first cousin here in California and we are clueless of how it happened … just got a frantic message from one of our Aunt there in Vancouver yesterday, but has not heard anything since. Can you provide us some updates? Thank you, we truly appreciate it.

Oh Cat, I’m so shocked! I know you two have been friends since you were like 6, so I can’t imagine how you’re feeling right now! Do you know if the funeral will be at St. Jude’s? While I can’t make it, I’d like to ask my parents to be there in my stead.
Please email/call me if you know more information.

It was very sweet of you to set this up. Naomi was in all my classes in grade 8-10 while I was in LFA so I’m in shock right now. I am in SF right now so I will not be able to attend the memorials but please give my regards to her family. She will definitely in my thoughts. Can you tell us what happened?

I had the opportunity to work with Naomi back in 2007. I have had fond memories of her during her short stay in HR; with her beautiful smile, she used to prompt me to speak to her in Tagalog so she could learn the language.
She is a very sweet and thoughtful person and had great aspirations in life.
It was a shock to learn about her passing. With this note comes my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends and to those whose lives she touched.

I still remember the day Naomi was hired and started with our team in Employer Services and the ray of sunshine she brought to our team. Naomi was an absolute joy to work with as a colleague and team leader. Form my personal experience and the many words I have read, Naomi obviously had the gift of touching all those around her in all aspects of her life. It was a privelege to have known her and worked with her. She will be missed more than words can describe. My thoughts are with Naomi’s family and friends during these difficult times. I offer you my sincere condolences for your loss.

Naomi and I worked together in HR at Service Canada and I enjoyed her sense of humour and her great smile. We lived near each other and quite often we went for walks after work and the time always seemed to go quickly as we chatted away – about her ambitions and life in general. It was a pleasure to have known her. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

To the family of our Naomi
I feel it especially important during your family’s time of grief to know what an inspiring and intoxicatingly kind person Naomi was. She was inspiring person even during her years of high school. And memories of her and her gentle way are held even by those for whom Graduation meant the end of our constant connection.
Naomi was truly loved and the Christ like kindness she gave in her dealing with each and everyone of us will be remembered.
Our hearts ache for you at this time!
yours,
Theresa

I went to High School with Naomi, she was the best Biology Lab partner ever. She would write funny notes in class, and we would constantly giggle. I remember her funky style and one of a kind personality. I have her in my thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Naomi,
Although I haven’t seen you since grad, you were one of those girls that was unforgettable. Your vibrant personality, constant smiles and laughter, and ability to make others happy simply by your presence was astounding. I enjoyed being in homeroom with you for our years at LFA, and will always remember how gracious and caring you were. I hope you are looking down on us right now and smiling, knowing that even to the farthest reaches you have touched so many.
To the Salvo family, my most sincere condolences… Naomi was a beautiful girl inside and out, and a true angel.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
God Bless you,
Rhona

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Naomi throughout high school. My fondest memories of Naomi were from the time we worked on a dance routine together for PE class – that was when I got to know her a bit better. She was such a sweet and loving person. I am saddened that she is now gone so suddenly, and so soon. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family during this time.
You will forever be in our hearts, Naomi. You will be greatly missed.

I regret that I won’t be able to attend Naomi’s funeral service but I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to her family. I’m another of Naomi’s LFA classmates and friends and I remember her as an eternally cheerful, kind person and just all-round lovely. Although we didn’t keep in touch after high school I often thought of her and was sad to hear of her passing. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

My heartfelt condolences to Naomi’s family and friends. I had not seen her since high school, where she was known for her kindness and bright smile. I gather from the messages above that she had also made quite an impression in her adult years. It is obvious that Naomi was very loved by those who knew her and she will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace, my fellow little flower.

I still remember the first day I met Naomi. Her beautiful smile, lovely hair, flawless skin, magnetic voice, and humble attitude just melted me. Although we only shared short moments here and there at work, those fond moments of talking about from a spectrum of fashion, skin care products to news around the world & personal goals, made me realize that she was not only intelligent, but also fun to be with- beautiful inside and out. I will never forget she made it all the way to the North Shore to attend my b-day, even we’d worked together just for a very short period of time. It’s my privilege to know Noami. I treasure the moments we shared. My heartfelt condolences to Naomi’s family.

I am sorry that Naomi passed away. Naomi was friendly, loving, fun, and intelligent. I enjoyed going to Baby Salsa with her. We walked and talked together while taking care of our babies. She had a beautiful smile and a kind heart. I met her at a Parent and Infant Group. I enjoyed having lunch with Naomi and the other moms and their babies. I have fond memories of Naomi. She was a wonderful person.

I am still in shock as I just heard about Naomi’s passing today after a chance reunion with a fellow classmate. I really can’t believe that she is gone. I was in her grade 8 LFA class. She is one of my most fondest memories of LFA. I was only at LFA for 1 year but after I left, she was the one person that I kept in touch with. We would marvel at how easy it was for us to catch up and talk even if we’d only see eachother once a year. I, regrettably, lost touch with her a few years back and often thought about her and wanted to get in touch. I am truly saddened to hear that she is no longer with us. She had a welcoming smile, an infectious laugh, and a heart of gold. My thoughts go out to her family.
